Collaboration with Tianjin University of TCM

In  Akadimia we give great emphasis and importance to international cooperations. Before quoting reasonable arguments to justify such an attitude we must make an important point.
A modern Greek is characterized by a tendency to allegiate to anything foreign or different. Especially in the field of medicine the effect is too strong. Everything that emanates either from America or from the supposed developed countries automatically is considered a principle from the functionaries of the medical profession. This situation is wrong in many ways and should not continue. Today indeed, that a strong depreciation of the Western medical model is observed and a turn to the East, we should not just change our patrons from praising the Americans  to praising the Chinese, the Indians or Tibetans. In a historic moment of change where there is birth of new ideas and things it is not right to just settle in changing bosses. We must stand on our own feet, without the support of international masters. We have strength as people, intelligence as individuals and a rich heritage of culture and history.
Within this perception we are active in the international cooperation sector. We invite pious and worthy teachers from every corner of the globe, without bias. We welcome with respect and value the seed of their thinking, reciprocating the Greek hospitality. We treat the seed and so, enrich the resources and energy of  Akadimia.

In this context, we have already concluded a cooperation agreement with TIANJIN UNIVERSITY OF TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE and every year we invite Chinese Masters from the University of TIANJIN. Furthermore, a following agreement signed between Akadimia and Tianijn University of TCM, holders of the 3-year Diploma of Akadimia will be admitted to the university to continue their studies there for the Master’s level.

Finally, Akadimia of Ancient Greek and Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, offer since the academic year 2015-2016 to the students of Akadimia 10 scholarships to study in China annually. Scholarships are three months and cover tuition in TIANJIN UNIVERSITY monitoring clinical acupuncture and theoretical courses.
Since 2004 at least seven worldwide prominent professors of TCM have taught at Akadimia.

AKADIMIA OF ANCIENT GREEK AND TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE after a long-term cooperation with TIANJIN UNIVERSITY OF CHINESE MEDICINE managed to ensure for the schools’ students the opportunity of obtaining the BACHELOR DEGREE in ACUPUNCTURE, MOXIBUSTION, TUINA. This has important effects on both Traditional Chinese Medicine and in the general practice of alternative therapies in Greece. Click here for more information.

It is therefore obvious that while we rely primarily on the cultivation of the Ancient Greek Spirit, our own spirit, that which results from the nature that surrounds us, at the same time we accept influences from abroad. Unilateralism, in an age like ours, can lead to slippery paths, such as nationalism or sterile archaiolatreia. But to highlight the knowledge of our past, to use it as a tool for the present and to mix it with international knowledge, is a project that can be used as a compass in a time of seeking paths.
