The human body is a complicated and multi-level system which interacts with all the physical, chemical and biological external factors and reacts according to the balance of the internal conditions in order to be protected from these factors or to cooperate with them. The disease occurs as a result of an internal imbalance, which can be either temporary or long-term and deeper. The change of people’s living standards have greatly increased the life expectancy of their survival, and has also led to the emergence and prevalence of new diseases. Classical Medicine is occupied intensively both in the fields of epidemiology and research to isolate the factors leading to disease, and in the scope of supply of new diagnostics and treatments in order to effectively address the increasingly frequent diseases. Knowledge of the functions of the human systems on a different level from the description of the Traditional Chinese Medicine approach complements with a different way of understanding the function of the human body and the diseases which affect it. At the same time, this knowledge integrates the skills of therapists to understand patients’ problems in order to devise or adapt their “treatment plan”. During the course there will be discussions on the pathophysiology of human systems and the diseases that occur in them, always in the light of the classical medical science, but the broader impact of philosophies of Ancient Greek and Chinese Medicine.
