Hippocrates is the first healer-doctor who records and discloses the archives of Asclepiads. Through this disclosure, the ancient Greek medical art ceases to be a privilege of the priesthood, and is accessible to all. The later medical systems of the Western world are developed on this basis.
Western medicine is based on Hippocrates’ works, even if some may deny this fact. The analysis of his works will remind us of this ancient knowledge. Also, the common elements between Ancient Greek and traditional Chinese medicine will be analyzed.
The analysis is based on Pournaropoulos’ translations (Martinos Publications – Hippocrates’ Collected Works – 6 volumes).
